Founder and Chief Executive Officer of iFunding, William Skelley, has just received a big honor. He has been named a member for the exclusive group “Next Generation of Real Estate Leaders”.
William Skelly has an extensive resume that includes working for well known companies like Rose Park Advisors, General Electric, Olympus, Bain Capital, and a co-leader of the iFunding company Sohin Shah. He was led to create iFunding several years ago when he was the owner of a boutique investment bank. When the market took a dive, real estate came to a complete halt. He was forced to think of another path, and that is when he came across a program at Harvard Business School. He met Clayton Christensen, a man known for his work on disruptive innovation, who was leading a prominent hedge fund at the time. One of the investments was made in CircleUp, and that is when the idea came to Skelley, as he told RealHeartland. The same ideas there were applicable to real estate.
Skelley’s iFunding has led to his induction into “Next Generation of Real Estate Leaders”. The first annual dinner of the year was held in the end of January at the Columbus Citizens Foundation in New York City. The gala was an invite only affair and was organized by Michael Stoler who serves as the Managing Director of Madison Realty Captial as well as the host of “The Stoler Report: NY’s Business Report”.
The event includes a list of elite men and women from some of the world’s top real estate firms that include Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, CIT, and more.
Skelley is recognized as being the creator of one of the most recognized names in alternative real estate investment platforms with the creation of iFunding. CNBC reports that William currently oversees business development in the company which has financed more than 40 real estate projects that total more than $250 million in financing.
Along with the honor of being invited to join “Next Generation of Real Estate Leaders“, Skelley was also invited to participate in an episode of “The Stoler Report: NY’s Business Report”. The episode is airing this spring and will focus on the growth of commercial real estate. Along with Skelley, the panel will also include a previous iFunding sponsor, Paul Braungart, who has gone on to found and become President of Regional Capital Group.
