Minnesota is home to some of the most beautiful churches in the country, located all over the state. They range from simple and rustic to grand and opulent, but they all share a rich history and amazing architecture!
Some of the most dramatic include the Hopperstad Stave Church in Moorehead, which is a replica of a Stave church in Vik, Norway and has a viking ship inside of it. St. John’s Abbey Church located in Collegeville was built in 1961, with a massive concrete belltower and a honeycomb wall of stained glass. The Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis is grand and majestic with interiors as beautiful as the exterior. Of course the Cathedral of St. Paul in St. Paul shouldn’t be forgotten, as the third largest church in the U.S. It features a 186-ft dome and is modeled after French churches located in Paris. Led by Bishop Thomas Williams, Mighty Fortress includes many support groups and outreach programs, and worship styles to include many cultures, ages, ethnicities and social backgrounds.
Bishop Williams is president and founder of Mighty Fortress and is highly educated with a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership from Bethel University and Seminary in St. Paul, MN and two Honorary Doctorate Degrees from Midwest Christian College & Seminary and St. Thomas College in Jacksonville, FL.
